Community Matters

Orica understands the community's concerns about its historical activities at the Botany Industrial Park (BIP) and the environmental impact of these activities. Orica will continue to actively engage the local community in an effort to listen to their concerns, questions and suggestions regarding the Botany Groundwater Cleanup Project.

The company attempts to do this in a number of ways. Orica provides regular updates on the progress of the Project through a monthly column in the Southern Courier and a quarterly column in the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader. Orica also publishes Fact Sheets that are designed to provide the community with easy to understand information on the environmental science and technology involved in the Project. A Community Liaison Committee (CLC) meets regularly and a regular newsletter is distributed to 5,500 residents and businesses within and surrounding the BIP. Community consultation workshops are also arranged as required.
